Taking the chance with the LEAP diet and my dietary consultations with Diana were very helpful. My reactive foods included many items that were a normal part of my training diet. I now know to stay away from Beef, Chicken and Tilapia. Those were staples of my training diet when I was most focused. I now understand that my body prefers other forms of protein.
Even more interesting, I have read multiple articles about juicing and loading up on certain fruits and vegetables that are good sources of antioxidants. I never understood why I felt horrible when I attempted to juice religiously. The LEAP diet revealed to me that I need to avoid Apples, Watermelon and Strawberries. Those items were in every juice that I made…no wonder I felt tired, ill and bloated when I was experimenting with juicing!
I’m certainly not perfect at following the LEAP program, but simply avoiding items that are on my reactive food card has helped me to enjoy a diet that doesn’t leave me with feeling highs and lows after my meals. I feel like my energy level is steadier now. My athletic performance seems good, and my joint pain has definitely decreased since starting the LEAP diet.
